I grew up in the United Arab Emirates, where I was exposed to a wide range of cultures but also to a growing manifestation of westernisation. This has stimulated my creativity and I’ve come to enjoy playing with the intersection of Arab traditions and popular culture in my illustrations. My work is above all amusing and playful but it also is, in a way, a call to dispel the idea that cultures are incompatible and to celebrate the ambiguity and diversity of Arab identity in the modern world.
